Julius Caesar was born in 100 BCE. He rose to become one of the most powerful politicians in the Roman Republic through a number of his accomplishments, notably his victories in the Gallic Wars. The work of Evan Taylor Sage in this collection was completed in 1936, shortly before he died. According to his widow, Miriam S. Foote, the manuscript was to have been published by the American Philological Society, but the publication was not carried out. Sage received his PhD from the University of Chicago.
